Appreciating the Support of my Support System

Your successes and failure do not only define who you are, they tell a lot about the people you have surrounding you.

I don’t even know how to start. Sincerely it has been a long while since I used my pen last. Well I mean keyboard, but still a little conventionality or professionalism is expected right?
2013 was pretty much a year of discovery for me (Partly or fully because I became a Google Student Ambassador). I not only found out new desirable things about myself but I also got to realize the strength of the people that enclose me.
You all gave me the courage to push on harder. I won’t make this look like a fairy story because I did fall flat on my face more than a couple of times. But through your courage, support and the constant smiles, I picked myself up.
I won’t also create the impression that I’m some sort of Nigerian Zorro. Trust me, I’ve felt like giving up a couple of times.

Anyway not to derail, while reflecting on what I did in the last year, I realized that what I can term as success was inspired and achieved through the support of my support system which is you all. (I hope my literature teacher is reading, I just used alliteration)

At the inception of this piece, I fully intended to mention names and thank each of you personally. That hasn’t changed.
The responsibility and thrill of becoming a Google Student Ambassador was inspired by all those who stood up to help me make meaning of it.
This is the one true thing I have done this year. Recognizing my strengths, identifying with them and appreciating them.
The names that will appear below have impacted so much in my life, while I doubt they even know. This is my first post this year guys, this is my way of saying Merci Beaucoup.
Tobi Wojuola , Ewebiyi Keye James, David Habba, , Fagbohun Tayo. Being a Google Student Ambassador only happened because I knew you guys.
The entire GSA 20132014 family, and I do mean family, Thank you for lending your shoulders to me to stand on.
To my right hand dude, Rasheed Raji Ratio, simply put, none of the programs would have worked out without your support and involvement.
Ignoring Yahya Jamiu would mean forgoing subsidized food rates for subsequent programs.
Sarah Inyang, for being there to support me during my first two programs, I was so nervous I had stomach ache from time to time.
To Akintola Dimeji, Showing your face at every program even those that didn’t work out had a calming effect on my almost always frayed nerves.
Disu Femi and Ibidapo Yusuf, we started together, you both gave me the confidence I needed.
Hassan Babatunde, I always have various ideas flying all around my head and he was and still is always ready to listen and help.

Olasunkanmi Arowolo. In him I have found an unlikely ally, one I wouldn’t trade in the world.

Adedayo Akanni, Theater Arts President, for coming all the way from Ikorodu to my VI event and walking home.( He got home during the small hours of the morning while I was sound asleep!)
Not mentioning the outgoing MSSN Amir and Stephen Adeleke the outgoing LASUSU PRO would make a mockery of this piece.

My H.O.D Mr Jimi Kayode for his unwavering support, Mr Segun Padonu for standing by me all through it all

The Entire LASU Google StudentClub Members, I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with. Your enthusiasm and readiness to work always astounds me. You are all appreciated
2013 was awesome because of the presence of these people in my life
Finally, and most importantly To God, I can but only say thank you from the deepest part of my heart.
If by chance I leave out anyone’s name, understand that you have contributed immensely and you are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for standing by me.

Let’s make some noise as we enter 2014!!!
